Marching Band Updates!

Hello, Marching Spartans Parents and Students!

As I'm sure you've heard, my name is Mitchell Lutz, and I have been hired as the new band director at Olympia. I am still in the process of obtaining an Olympia e-mail address and Skyward access, so hopefully communication will be a little bit easier then. Here is some important information for the next couple of weeks:

Stanford Parade:

Call Time--12:45pm at Olympia

Departure--1:00pm

Warm-up on-site--1:15pm

Parade Step-off--2:00pm

Depart for Olympia--2:50pm

Return ETA--3:00pm

Important Transportation Policies:

--Students who will not be riding the bus to and/or from the parade route should let Mr. Lutz know in writing well in advance of the parade.

--Students who ride the bus with the band to a parade may be released to their parent/guardian at the end of the parade route. (Guardians, if this is the case plan to meet the band at the end of the route before our departure time and provide a signature to release your child).

--Students may not be released to a non-parent/guardian without the appropriate form, signed by both parties.

Band Camp Fees:

The $125 band camp fee remains in effect. This fee allows us to purchase drill for our field show, hire excellent staff members for band camp, clean uniforms, and much more. Checks can be made to "Olympia Music Boosters".

There is a new "Remind" that will allow you to receive last minute updates about band events.

Band Camp:

2017 Band Camp is quickly approaching! It is crucial for your child's success in marching band that they are present for the entirety of band camp. This is the time when we will learn the music and marching formations for our competitive field show. It is extremely difficult to make up for missed instruction during band camp.

That being said, dates for the 2017 band camp remain the same. July 18-21 (9am-5pm) and July 24-27 (9am-8:30pm).

Band Handbook:

In the next couple of days, you can expect a copy of the newly updated Band Handbook that will contain more information about band camp and the schedule for the rest of the year!
