The Olympia Band program begins with our 6th Grade Beginning Band. Students then move on through our age based groups of the 7th Grade Intermediate and 8th Grade Advanced Bands. Through their time at OMS, students participate in the 6th Grade Band tour, four annual concerts, and IGSMA Organizational Contest. Middle school students have the option of auditioning for ILMEA District 3 Honor Band, participate in IGSMA Solo and Ensemble, and audition to be a part of the OHS Marching Spartans as 8th Grade Students.

 

At OHS, band students are offered a wide and vast variety of experiences. Students can participate in the OHS Marching Spartans, OHS Concert Band, OHS Pep Band, OHS Jazz Band, OHS Chamber and Madrigal Ensembles, and OHS Musical Pit. Depending on the semester(s) students are enrolled, they will perform in at least one formal concert, one or more home boys basketball game, be a part of a chamber ensemble, and participate in organizational contests. Students have the option of auditioning for ILMEA District 3 Honor Band as well as the All State Ensembles, participate in the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest, and be nominated/selected for the Bradley University's Freshman/Sophomore or Junior/Senior honor bands.
