OHS Band Weekly Updates 9/19/16

Hello everyone,

Here are the announcements for this week.

Congratulations!

Congratulations on another successful performance this past weekend at Pontiac. For those who did not know, we placed 4th in Class 1A. The sun made things tough but we persevered! Let’s look to improve this week like we did last week. Did you miss our performance? You can watch it by clicking here.

Again, a summary of the taped comments made by the judges can be found on the band room door. If you would like to listen to any of them, you may speak with your section leader.

A big thank you again to our trailer driver and pit crew this weekend! Thank you to the Smith’s for providing bottled water after the performance!

Game Tape

We will watch Saturday’s performance and the drone recording of our rehearsal run at 5:40 PM on Tuesday.

Home Football Game

Our next home football game will Friday, September 23. Call time will be 6:00 PM, lined up in Pre-Game and ready to go. Dress will be uniform pants/shoes/hats (without plumes) with band camp t-shirts underneath. Since it will be so warm, we do will not worry about wearing our jackets.

Mt. Zion Invite

Our next competition is the Marching Music Games at Mt. Zion High School in Mt. Zion, IL. Information about the competition as well as an itinerary can be found by clicking here.

Marching Band Competitions

Last week, I sent the proper etiquette at a marching band competition for spectators. That introduction can be found by clicking here.

Homecoming Week

Next week is a very big week for the school as it is our Homecoming! A few things to note about this week for the band.

1. There will NOT be rehearsal on Tuesday, September 27. Everyone has the night off!

2. We will play at the Tuesday (9/27) morning assembly. Students should check in for attendance and then come to the band room before the 8:25 bell. Since I will be with the 8th Grade Band at this time, Drum Majors are in charge.

3. We will play at the Friday (9/30) afternoon assembly. Students in Chorus will grab their instruments and head to the Gym ASAP once classes are dismissed for the assembly.
