Hello everyone,
Here are the announcements for this week.
Drumline Clinics and Auditions
Dates for the clinics and audition of the 2016 OHS Marching Spartan Drumline and front ensemble have been set. We will clinic from 3:30 until 4:30 on the following dates: April 25, 26, and May 9. Auditions will be after school from 3:30 until 5:30 on Friday, May 13. Those interested in auditioning but have conflicts should speak with Mr. B.
Marching Band Conditioning
We are once again offering conditioning work outs for the upcoming marching band season. Starting next week, we would meet after school three times a week for an hour. During that time we would use the cardio equipment in the weight room as well as do some core strengthening. This conditioning is on a voluntary basis and a great way for those that want to get back in shape for the upcoming season. We will meet Thursday and Friday from 4:45 PM until 5:30 PM of this week.
Section Leader Interviews
Students interested in being a section leader for the 2016-2017 school year should sign up for an interview next week before school. The interview should only be about 10 minutes. They should also fill out the attached form and turn it in at the end of the week.
OHMS Bands Spring Concert/Awards Night
Our final concert will be the OHMS Bands Concert on Tuesday, May 10 at 7:00 PM in the OHS Gym. This concert will feature all of the ensembles at Olympia with a grand finale featuring all four bands. We will also take the time to recognize solo and ensemble participants, organizational contest results, seniors, and present the Sousa Award and Director Award to select seniors. More information about call time and specifics for each group will be made available at a later date.
Music Advocacy Corner
As we are approaching the end of the school year, we are preparing for the summer and fall. That means preparing for our 6th Grade recruitment as well as high school marching band. Those of you who were in marching band already know the benefits of being in marching band. For us at Olympia, it’s a great way to join high school before the school year actually starts. Don’t just take my word for it, check out these two brief articles:
