Hello everyone,
Here are the band announcements for this week.
Upcoming Rehearsals
We have been asked to use the stadium only one night this week. We have worked out the following schedule for rehearsal spaces. We will be in the stadium on Tuesday, August 11. We will be on the Practice Field/Parking Lot on Thursday, August 13. Both rehearsals will begin at 6:00 PM and finish at 8:30 PM. Please note that rehearsals will now go a half hour longer than they did before band camp.
Game Tape
There will not be game tape this week. A shortened version of last week’s game tape will be posted on YouTube and sent out via Remind later today.
Activity Cards
We will be checking student activity cards at the end of rehearsal on Thursday, August 13. As stated at the marching band introductory meeting and the band manual, students are required to have an activity card to participate in band. All paperwork and information is handled through the activities office. More information about the paperwork can be found by clicking here. Students who do NOT have an activity card by the start of the school year will not be allowed to perform with the group until they have received one.
When checking activity cards, we will be writing down the date and activity card # to verify with the activities office. The office will be open from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Calendar Changes
We have two changes to our calendar.
There will not be rehearsal on Tuesday, August 18 due to OMHS Open House.
We have a performance for Spartan Night on Friday, August 21. More information about this event is further below in this email.
Waynesville Parade
Our next performance is the Waynesville Parade on Saturday, August 15. Call time for students riding the bus will be 1:30 PM to load the trailer. We depart from the school at 1:45 PM. If you’re meeting us at the parade, we will meet by the post office at 2:15 PM. The parade will step off at 3:00 PM. We should be finished at the post office around 3:30 PM. We depart Waynesville at 3:45 PM and should be back to school around 4:15 PM.
Danvers Days Parade
The Danvers Days Parade will be Sunday, August 16. Call time for students riding the bus will be 12:30 PM to load the trailer. We depart from the school at 12:45 PM. If you’re meeting us at the parade, we will meet by the elevators at 1:15 PM. We will be performing the National Anthem for this parade. The parade will step off at 2:00 PM and we should finish at the elevators at 2:30 PM. We depart Danvers at 2:45 PM and should be back to school around 3:00 PM.
National Anthem
Music for the National Anthem was handed out to students at rehearsal last week. It is also available through this Google Drive folder. It should be learned and memorized for our rehearsal on Tuesday, August 11.
First Day of School
The first day of school will officially be a Band Day. We will have full rehearsal outside on the practice field. Students are expected to bring the appropriate footwear/clothes to school in order to have a successful rehearsal. Students will need their instrument, music, and drill.
Spartan Night
The annual Spartan Night for fall sports and activities is on Friday, August 21. Student call time will be 4:15 PM. We will change into full uniforms (guard will wear all black) for pictures at 4:30 PM. Immediately following, students should change into their band camp shirt or other sport/activity uniform. At 5:30 PM fall sports/activities will be announced in the OHS Gym followed by a quick performance of the band. We should be finished between 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM. We should also be finished before all team meetings/scrimmages.
Coordinate Sheets
Coordinate sheets, or sheets that have each students coordinate for every set without the picture, were handed out to students at rehearsal last week. They are also available through this Google Drive folder. When we clean and fix drill, these are an easier way for students to find their spots quickly and accurately.
Conditioning Homework
The homework for this week’s conditioning will be:
Tuesday: Brisk 5 minute warmup walk, Jog 25 minutes, Brisk 5 minute cool down walk
Thursday: Brisk 5 minute warmup walk, Jog 25 minutes, Brisk 5 minute cool down walk
